Who am I?

My name is David Breaker, and I live in Medway in Kent with my partner.

I started Breakthrough Life Coaching because for me I am passionate about inspiring others to make positive changes. We often have big goals and desires in life but not always sure how to get them. Having been there myself, I now make it my life’s work to help others achieve their dreams.

I am a personal development champion, having gone through a huge shift in my own life.  I went from a man who hit rock bottom, no future or purpose in life, to where I am today. It wasn’t easy but I rose to the challenge, with support from others. Now let me offer you the same support I had. Let’s walk side by side to the new you!

Earlier this year I did a presentation for the Public Health Team Medway about my journey and work as a Better Medway Champion.

I had the fantastic opportunity to meet James Williams, the director of public health at Medway Council.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified Life Coach, having obtained my Level 4 Diploma in Life Coaching. I have been given the full training and skills to support people like you to make positive life changes.

My training began in developing my listening skills and understanding of counselling theories, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Person Centre theory. During my Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Counselling Studies, I refined this knowledge.

Having also attended the MHFAEngland training, I am now a registered Mental Health First Aider.

As part of my role as a Better Medway Champion I have attended Connect 5, Train the Trainer Mental Health Course.  This course is designed to increase the confidence and core skills of frontline staff.  Because of this, I am now more effective in having conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

As a Better Medway Champion and have training and experience to engage the public in regards to health support needs and signpost them to the correct services.  I also attend many Public Health events such as Armed Forces Day and Medway Mile, supporting the team to engage with the public.

As an Associate Member of the European Mentoring & Coaching Council, you can have the faith that I follow a strong work ethic code in my Coaching.

I have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance for my practice.

Early in 2018, you may have seen me on KMTV Live, in an interview about my journey from the man I was to the man I am today.

I have also appeared on BBC South East News, again discussing my huge life change and hoping to inspire others to take back their lives.

On more than one occasion I have been on BBC Radio Kent, taking part in discussions such as Mid-Life Crisis in men and why it should be taken more seriously. I also took part in Dominic King’s show for his Quizzical piece.
